The Proven Weight Loss System
What is the proven weight loss system?
You know by now that the proven weight loss system involves changing your lifestyle, right? But how do you do that? What steps will you need to take? Well with our weight loss coaching system, we take you by the hand and guide you through each step until you have the success you desire.
Get Clear On Your Goals
The first step of our proven system is to get clear on your goals. You need to know what you want and how it will look before you have success doing it, right? So, we work together to define your goals.
It is not enough to say “I want to lose thirty pounds. This is my goal.” We go a lot deeper than that. We go deeper into your “why.” Why do you want to lose thirty pounds? How will your life be different when you lose thirty pounds? How will you feel if you keep doing what you are doing now and a year from now you are still where you are? Or heavier? How would you feel if, a year from now, weight was no longer a struggle for you?
Create a Plan
Once you get clear on your goals, we draw up a plan on how you are going to reach that goal. We get to know your dietary habits and what you feel is working and what is not. We look into what you feel your ideal diet is and what prevents you from sticking to it. We look at what you need to add more of and what you need to eliminate or eat much less of. We put together a plan for indulgences and also how you will handle high-stress situations or situations where there are a lot of temptations.
Understand the Inner Saboteur
We also look closely at your inner saboteur. What are the situations in the past where you have sabotaged yourself and what will most likely cause you to want to sabotage yourself this time?
We put together a plan to address your saboteur so that you are armed and ready when the need to feed arises and you are feeling “out of control.” We teach you to face your stuff not stuff your face.
Exercise Program
We also look closely at exercise and activity. It isn’t about going to the gym five days a week if you hate the gym. We don’t want you doing things you hate. We want you to learn to really love your life, right? So this means not only increasing your activity levels but doing it in a way that is both sustainable and enjoyable.
You may find that you like to walk, hike, ride your bike, roller skate or swim. By beginning to implement an active lifestyle you increase your metabolism and have so much more energy and vitality.
Address Emotional Eating
Another part of our proven system is to address emotional eating, stress eating, comfort eating, and all the ways you eat when you aren’t really hungry. You will learn to tune into your body and figure out where you are on the hunger scale, when to eat and when to stop.
You will learn more effective ways to deal with your stress and emotions then running for the ice cream. Feelings are important. They should never be swept under the rug or…eaten. They deserve your attention.
Adopt a Powerful New Mindset
You will learn how to adopt a new mindset based on “eat to live,” not “live to eat.” This means we delve into life purpose and doing things you enjoy doing that don’t involve food. This means you will begin to really live your life. You learn to take charge of your life, so your life doesn’t take charge of you.
If you adopted the lifestyle changes, we have talked about so far, as part of our proven system, how do you feel your life would change? Would you be stronger? More confident? Would you feel you are more likely to succeed? Would you feel your life was more manageable?
Accountability
Well, we have only just begun. Now we have to put into action the accountability piece. As your coach, I not only hold you accountable for implementing the small, manageable goals we set, but I teach you how to hold yourself accountable. Imagine how your life would be different if you saw yourself as someone you wanted to be accountable to?
If this is you, you probably don’t realize how damaging a lack of accountability to yourself can be. Developing accountability is to build trust in yourself and learn to depend upon and rely upon yourself. This is really powerful.
Set Small Achievable Short-Term Goals
Another part of the proven step-by-step program is to set small, manageable, and achievable goals. You have your long-term goal, the big one that you are shooting for, like losing thirty pounds. But a small achievable goal helps you to celebrate wins along the way and build momentum.
A small goal prevents you from feeling overwhelmed. Especially if you are implementing new dietary changes and don’t see weight loss right away. You may instead notice that you feel better and have more energy. This is a win. A small, manageable goal may be to add a big green salad to your diet every day, or at least six days this week. At the end of the week, we can either celebrate that you met your goal of eating a big green salad every day or we face the dragon of what got in your way.
As a coach, although I may suggest a short-term-goal, it is something you need to get behind, feel good about and are excited about. A good coach doesn’t dictate your goals. They help you to achieve them. If I were to say to you, “Here is what I want you to do. I want you to eat a big green salad every day for the next week.” You may have resistance because somebody else is setting your goals for you. It is so much more empowering when you set your own goals. You are also much more likely to follow through.
The thing about a lifestyle transformation is that we may need to make changes along the way. You may feel ambitious in the beginning about eating a certain way but then have a difficult time sticking to this way of eating. If we make a few small adjustments, you may find it much easier to be successful. It isn’t about saying to yourself “this isn’t working for me so I’m going to quit!” Instead, we look at why it isn’t working. Are you at a plateau and feeling discouraged?
